Over the weekend, Nigerian players, as usual, were in action for their respective sides all over the world.

From England to Spain, to Italy and China, Nigerian players played their parts as football actions continued across the world.

We review their performances in this piece.

In England

We start from England where Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi played a crucial role in Arsenal’s impressive 1-1 home draw against Liverpool. Iwobi came on in the 68th minute and made an assist with a defence-splitting pass from which Alexandre Lacazette scored from to level the score for the host.

 

Isaac Success’ good form so far this season earned him a start in Watford’s trip to Newcastle United although he couldn’t stop the Hornets from losing at the Saint James Park  1-0.

Wilfred Ndidi played the whole 90 minutes as grieving Leicester City got a 1-0 win away at Cardiff.

 

In the Championship

Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi was on from start to finish for Rotherham United who came back from a goal down to beat Swansea City 2-1.

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo got a rare start for Stoke City in their home goalless draw against Middlesbrough.

In Italy

Nigerian full-back Ola Aina continued his good form with an assist in Torino’s 4-1 away win over Sampdoria on Sunday. That was his 10th game for the Serie A side since he joined them on loan from Chelsea in the summer.

 

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong was on for 90 minutes for Udinese but could not stop a 0-1 loss to AC Milan on Sunday.

 

Nigerian midfielder Joel Obi played for 71 minutes as Chievo Verona suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Sassuolo.

In Spain

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo was on from the start and was impressive for Leganes in a 1-1 home draw against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

 

Super Eagles new boy Samuel Chukwueze played the whole 90 minutes for Villareal in their 1-1 home draw against Levante.

In the Segunda Division

Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was on the end of a thumping with Elche who were humiliated 5-1 by Cadiz.

In Switzerland

Former MFM FC striker Stephen Odey was on the scoresheet again as FC Zurich beat Luzern 5-2. That was Odey’s third goal in four games.

 

His compatriot Blessing Eleke was also on the scoresheet for Luzern.

In Russia

Super Eagles full-back Brian Idowu was a half-time substitute for Lokomotiv Moscow who got a 3-1 win over Arsenal Tula in the Russian Premier League.

In Germany

Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah played the last 16 minutes of Mainz’s 2-1 home win over Werder Bremen.

In the 2. Bundesliga

In German division two, Super Eagles left-back Jamilu Collins played 79 minutes in Paderborn's away 0-2 loss at Duisburg.

In Belgium

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen played the who 90 minutes but could not get on the scoresheet as Sporting Charleroi were beaten 2-1 away at Oostende

Super Eagles midfielder Uche Agbo played 62 minutes in Standard Liege’s shock home 0-2 loss to Royal Antwerp.

Anderson Esiti played the whole 90 minutes in Gent’s 3-1 home win over Kortrijk. His compatriot Imoh Ezekiel came on for the final 13 minutes for the visitors.

In Norway

Nigerian player Afeez Aremu played from start to finish in Start’s 1-4 away loss to Sandefjord in the Norwegian Eliteserien.

His compatriot and teammate Adeleke Akinyemi was also in action for the whole 90 minutes.

In Portugal

Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu was in action for Vitoria de Setubal who were beaten 1-2 at home by Braga. That was the midfielder’s fourth league appearance of the season.

In Scotland

Veteran defender Efe Ambrose was on from start to finish but couldn't help Hibernian who were beaten 1-0 at home by St Johnstone.

In Denmark

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu netted for Midtyylland who got a 2-2 draw away at Esbjerg FB. His 66th-minute goal was his eighth of the season.

 

His compatriot and teammate Rilwan Hassan was on for 61 minutes.

In the Czech Republic

Nigerian player Ubon Ekai made a rare start in Victoria Plzen’s 1-0 win over Banik Ostrava in the Czech First League.

In Turkey

Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru played 86 minutes of the tense Super Lig clash between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce which ended 2-2.

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi played the whole 90 minutes for Trabzonspor who managed a 1-1 draw at home to Bursaspor.

Nigerian player Emem Eduok played the who 90 minutes in Kasimpasa's 1-2 home lose Antalyaspor.
