Wakanda continues! Nnedi Okorafor is writing the new Black Panther spinoff 'Shuri'

Nnedi Okorafor is writing the new Marvel comic 'Shuri'

Marvel teams up with Nigerian-American writer to continue the Wakanda storyline.

Black Panther's tech-savvy sister, Shuri, is getting her own comic series and Nnedi Okorafor is writing it.

Nigerian-American writer, Nnedi Okorafor, is the definition of prolific in her Afro-futurism career.

Prior to the release of the highly grossing Black Panther in February 2018, Marvel announced two new comic-book miniseries: one of them, Black Panther: Long Live The King, to be written by Okorafor.

After the movie came out and broke several box-office records, grossing 1.3 billion dollars as of May 2018, Marvel partnered with Okorafor, once again, on another spinoff based on the elite all-female military crew, Dora Milaje. She was commissioned to write the three-part series. The first part was released on June 27.

Just weeks away from that, Okorafor took to her Instagram to announce that yet another spinoff was under way:

"Marvel has given Shuri (sister of T’Challa) her own comic series...and I [Nnedi Okorafor] am writing it. Yup!   !! Shuri is an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has traveled spiritually so far into the past that she's seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda. The Ancestors call her “Ancient Future”. And she's super ambitious. What do I love about her? Alllll that and more."

Bustle reports that reports that the story is centred on Shuri having to interrupt her geeky secluded life as a techie in order to answer the call of duty. Apparently, T’Challa has been away on a space odyssey for so long that he is considered lost. This creates a power vacuum that Shuri is compelled to fill.

We can't wait to revel in Shuri's escapades!
