In a statement on KAA Gent website, Awoniyi impressed against KAA Gent while on loan with Royal Excel Mouscron last season.

At Mouscron last season, Awoniyi scored 10 goals and contributed seven assists in a total of 31 appearances.

KAA Gent finished fourth in the Belgian top flight last season and has played for FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen before his move to Royal Excel Mouscron.

The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner will be expected to be in action when they kick off their season with a trip to Standard Liege on Friday, July 27.
