3 important qualities Christians can pick from Billy Graham

We look at the incredible life of the world-renowned preacher, in the wake of his death.

Late Billy Graham’s life was very impactful. So rich, that there are at least three important lessons all Christians can glean from it.

These are:

Compassion

When you look at the US evangelist’s life and ministry, his compassion stands out.

This came through when you saw his interactions with others, particularly the less privileged.

This compassion, combined with his love for God, could be said to be the major reason he went around the world doing his best to save lives.

A biographer describes this quality well writing, “In a society that has been nurtured on the antics of the anti-hero and rebel, it may be time to hear from a person who offers genuine care and affection.”

Humility

Before his death, Graham was regarded as a really important figure, not just in the Christian community but all over the world.

Still, he never let this get to his head as he always directed all the praise to his source, God.

“You’re not coming to me, you’re coming to Jesus,” he once said while preaching.

Once faced with high praise from former British prime minister, Sir Winston Churchill, he still redirected it to the proper recipient.

Reportedly, he had read some bible passages while ministering to Churchill, who said, “I thank you. You have given an old man a renewal of faith for the future.”

“I hadn’t, but the Bible had,” was the evangelist's simple answer.

Integrity

Throughout his life, Graham earned the reputation of a man who didn't just talk the talk but also lived by what he preached.

He managed to remain scandal-free as he simply acted as God’s mouthpiece.

After failing to find any dirt on the evangelist, an investigative reporter once said,  “He is a man without shadows.”

This was confirmed by a theologian. While analyzing a Graham sermon, he said, “One thing stood out — the man was genuine. He believed what he said.”

These three things made him a well respected and admired figure not just in America, but worldwide.
