UNILORIN wins maiden West Africa debate competition in Ghana

UNILORIN, which is said to be first choice for admission seekers in Nigeria wins the first West Africa debate competition in Ghana.

The Debate Team of the University of Ilorin has won the maiden edition of the Genesis Debate tournament held in Ghana.

The tournament which took place at the University of Ghana, Legon is an international open competition with participants from Nigeria, Mauritius, and Ghana.

Other institutions that participated in the competition are Covenant University, Ota; the University of Lagos; the Zenith University College, Accra; the Federal University of Technology, Akure; the Islamic University College, Accra; the University of Calabar; Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Accra.

 

Others are  Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi; Africa Leadership University, Mauritius and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Apart from winning the competition, the UNILORIN debate team, comprising of Omotayo Jimoh, Hawau Abikan and David Ejim also went home with the top 10 speakers’ medals and the Best Female Debater Award.

UNILORIN is admission seekers' first choice

Meanwhile, The University of Ilorin has for the fourth consecutive year maintained its status as the most subscribed university by admission seekers from 2014 to 2017.

Prof. Musa Yusuf, the Director of the Computer Services and Information Technology Centre (COMSIT), of the University, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in September 2017, saying more than 104,000 candidates picked the University as their preferred institution in the 2017 UTME.
