The group is made up of some aspirants who lost at the party's recent national convention.
A new faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), named Fresh PDP, has emerged and set up a new secretariat in the Asokoro district of Abuja on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
According to a report by TVC News, the group is made up of some aspirants who lost out at the party's recent national convention that elected Uche Secondus as its new chairman.
The elective convention was marked by internal discontent especially from the southwest candidates who pulled out in protest of the elective process.
The new faction is led by a certain Emmanuel Nwosu who said he stands against the imposition of a unity list on members at the convention.
Fresh PDP is an unregistered party
Despite the faction setting up a secretariat, it is not yet recognised as an official political party as it was not part of the new 21 political parties registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, it is possible that the party is one of the 80 new groups seeking the commission's approval to be registered as political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.
