Ganduje to Sanusi: Report to LG chairman, not me

Ganduje says he created four new emirates in Kano to take the state to the next level.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has asked the Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi, to a Local Government chairman.

Ganduje stated this while speaking to journalists at the ongoing Progressive Governors Forum award ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, May 10, 2019.

The Governor said the move to create four emirates in Kano was "not targetted at Sanusi" but to "take Kano to the next level".

The Kano State House of Assembly had passed into law a bill seeking to break the Kano Emirate into four -- Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.

Governor Ganduje assented to the bill into law the next day.

Sanusi fell out with Ganduje during the governorship election following the Emir's support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

Pulse gathered that the creation of more emirates in Kano is either to whittle down Sanusi's influence in the state or dispose him of his position.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has appointed as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocates.

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, made the announcement through Farhan Haq, his spokesman, at a news conference in New York on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
