This year’s edition was launched at a ceremony held on Thursday, August 16 at the MTN House at Ridge in Accra.

Addressing the press, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr Guido Sopiimeh reiterated the telecommunication company’s commitment to discovering new talents and showing them to the world.

According to him, the company is ‘happy’ hence ‘giving yet another opportunity to music hopefuls’.

“MTN is happy with the impact the Hitmaker show has had in Ghana's music industry, and as an enabler that creates the platform for the underground artistes to show the world what they have, MTN Ghana is giving yet another opportunity to music hopefuls to be part of the 7th edition of MTN Hitmaker.

We are by this launch inviting people who have the flair, confidence, style and attitude for stardom to take advantage of the Season 7 of the MTN Hitmaker music reality show to register and submit their songs for consideration.”

Guido Sopiimeh added that successful applicants who will go beyond the semifinals will go through series of coaching to improve their skills and prepare them for the market.

“Recognising the fact that successful applicants who make it to the semifinal are mostly raw talents, MTN will take steps to help improve their skill and prepare them for the market.

As part of the process, we are going to keep them at a boot camp where they will be groomed by a technical team made up of voice coaches, choreographers, music, director, image stylist and many more.

The contestants will be taken through breathing exercises, speech improvements and other key techniques required to prepare them for the entertainment industry.”

Interested participants for this year’s edition are advised to visit Google play store to download the MTN Hitmaker application to register and upload their songs.

The registration will be opened for a period of 3 weeks during which applications will be reviewed by renowned sound engineers who will shortlist weekly winners for the semifinal stage of the competition.

MTN Hitmaker has been running consistently since its inception in 2012. The show has produced some of the industry’s top-notch musicians including Koo Ntakra, Togbe, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Kurl Songx and Freda Rhyme.
