Panathinaikos settle final instalment of monies owed Michael Essien

Michael Essien can now smile after the Greek side settled final instalment of monies owed him

Greek giants Panathinaikos have completed the payment of the salary arrears of Ghanaian international Michael Essien.

Essien joined Panathinaikos two seasons ago, but struggled to rediscover his form.

The two parties terminated the deal by mutual consent, but the club refused to pay majority of the salaries owed Michael Essien.

The Ghanaian took legal action against Panathinaikos and they were ordered to pay the debt or risk losing vital points.

The Greek giants agreed to pay the salary arrears of the former Chelsea midfielder on instalment.

And it is a big sigh of relief to the Ghanaian player, following news that the final payment of the instalment was done on Wednesday.

Michael Essien is currently a free agent after parting ways with Persib Bandung in the Indonesian topflight league.

He has had stints with clubs such as Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, etc.
