Alex Asamoah denies quitting football to tap palm wine report

The former Ghana Premier League top scorer says he hasn’t quit football for palm wine tapping.

Alex Asamoah has rubbished reports claiming he has quit football for palm wine tapping job.

A photo of the former AshGold and Kotoko striker tapping wine has been going viral and people have jumped to the conclusion that the ex-Ghana top scorer is now a palm wine tapper.

Alex Asamoah, however, has indicated in an interview with Otec FC in Kumasi that there is no truth in the reports making round, because he is still into active football

He added that although, he will not looking down on palm wine tappers, he has no interest in the job.

And concluded that he will take a cue from what Asamoah Gyan said that the lack of news on the local scene due to the suspension of the league has been compelling some people to come out with fake news.

Alex Asamoah is currently plying his trade with Ghana Premier League debutants Techiman Eleven Wonders.

It is believed that many Ghanaian footballers have been rendered jobless following the suspension of the Ghana Premier League over the Anas expose’ video.

Both Clubs and players are complaining bitterly that they are facing financial challenges because of the inactivity.

 

It would be recalled that the multiple award winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his latest investigative piece dubbed ‘Number 12’ exposed several rots in Ghana football after it was premiered on 6 June.

The piece caught several match officials and football administrators on camera receiving monies suspected to be bribes, with former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi at the centre of the scandal.

Government has since secured a court injunction to stop the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from running football in Ghana, while taking legal steps to dissolve the body.
