NYSC DG, Kazaure assures corps members in Abuja that the Federal Government is considering an upward review of their allowance.
The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure has reportedly said the Federal Government has already started the review of the NYSC corps members' allowance.
According to Daily Post, Kazaure said the NYSC received a letter from the Presidency through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development that the process to review the allowance of corps members had started.
The DG added that the Presidency also copied the Ministry of Finance in the letter.
Kazaure announced this on Thursday, August 2, 2018, during a tour of the NYSC orientation camp in Abuja.
Kazaure said, “the federal government is working to increase your monthly allowance, therefore, wherever you find yourselves conduct yourself well, be good ambassador of your family, the scheme and the nation.
“We received a letter from the presidency, that is, Ministry of Youth and Sport, copied the ministry of finance that shows that the corps allowance will be reviewed upward, it is in the pipeline,”

Recall that the DG on Monday, April 23, 2018, said the increase in corps members allowance will be determined by the Federal Government's new national minimum wage.
Two weeks after, the NYSC Director of Press and Publications Mrs Adenike Adeyemi announced an increase in the corps members' transportation and local allowances in a statement.
The statement states that the transport allowance for each corps member has been increased from N1,500 to N1,800, while their local allowance is now N1,400.
