Ghana rise on FIFA ranking for the month of August

The Black Stars have appreciated on the FIFA ranking despite missing out on the FIFA World Cup.

New FIFA Ranking format has seen Ghana move upwards from 47 to 47 place in FIFA rating of countries for the month of August.

The Black Stars didn’t participate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but they have benefitted from new format for ranking teams. The new format gives a nation points for a win, while, a team is deducted points for a defeat.

Hence, Ghana who didn’t play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup maintained their points, whereas some of participating countries have lost points for not faring well.

Placed 50th in August last year, Kwesi Appiah’s outfit now find themselves between the Czech Republic (44) and Morocco (46) on the ladder.

On continental level, Ghana have moved up by two places from sixth to fourth, trailing Tunisia and Senegal who are tied as Africa’s No.1 and jointly occupying the 24th position on the world table. Congo DR (37) sit third on the continent.
