Manchester United forward says 'family first' as he responds to Mourinho jibes

Martial is due back at Manchester United after criticism from Jose Mourinho for his absence.

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has responded to the questions raised by Jose Mourinho about his availability after the birth of his child.

Martial and his partner Melanie Da Cruz welcomed a baby boy on Wednesday, July 25.

He said, “Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born - a beautiful baby, full of health, thank God - he should be here and he is not here.”

There were several reports that Manchester United were going to fine the forward up to two weeks wages up to £180,000 if his absence continued.
The player has, however, come out to state the reason for his absence in a post on his official Twitter account.
He revealed that he had an obligation to his family and cited difficulties with his partner among other reason.

He said, “Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she’s better now.
“Sorry, but my family will always come first... Back tomorrow in Manchester.”
Martial will return to Manchester United by his future under Mourinho is uncertain with the Portuguese manager to offload some players before the close of the summer transfer window.
