In a press statement, WAEC said that the extended date will be from July 17, 2018, to July 31, 2018.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said that it will re-open registration for private candidates who were unable to register during the regular period for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a press statement, WAEC said that the extended date will be from July 17, 2018, to July 31, 2018.
The initial registration process ended on June 1, 2018.

WAEC said interested private candidates should visit WAEC-accredited registration centres to complete the process.
The release added that candidates registering during this period will only be allocated examination centres in their Regional Capitals.

The statement, however, did not give any reason why the examination body is re-opening for more registration.
Some have argued that it could be because few potential candidates registered for the 2018 Nov/Dec.
Others have also said that it may be due to the generally poor performance of students who wrote the 2018 WASSCE.
