During the period, people around the world, including Sub-Saharan Africa cities, will be able to see a ‘blood moon’, as the earth’s satellite turns red.
‘Blood moon’ is the name given to the moon during a lunar eclipse.

The moon will pass through the centre of the earth's shadow and this is the first central lunar eclipse since June 15, 2011, according to reports.
Nigeria will experience the visibility of the total lunar eclipse from 9:30 pm and it will last till about 12 am on Saturday morning.
The 2018 total eclipse will be visible in large parts of East Africa, the Middle East, across India, the westernmost tip of China and South America but there will still be reasonable views for people in the rest of other regions.
It is expected to last for 103 minutes, making it the longest eclipse of the 21st century.
