Nigeria Football Federation: Pinnick thanks Buhari for throwing Giwa out

Pinnick and his administration are thankful to President Buhari for resolving the crisis in Nigerian football.

Amaju Pinnick has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for throwing out Chris Giwa from the Nigerian Football Federation after his return from the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The President mandated DSS officials to overthrow the Giwa lead football administration on Monday, July 23 and reinstall Pinnick as back in charge of Nigeria’s football body.

The Amaju Pinnick led board have now thanked the president for his intervention in the matter and praised his actions for the good of football in the country.

 

FIFA President Gianni  Infantino had earlier issued a warning to the Giwa Led administration recognising Pinnick as the head of the football body.

In a statement issued by the Nigerian Football Federation, Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi stated that Nigerians will now have peace in the football administration.

The statement reads, “We cannot thank His Excellency enough for his action in restoring order to the Football House.

“By this single action, our President has restored hope to millions of Nigerian youth and the not-so-young who are involved in one way or the other in the football business. Now they can live and breathe their favourite game once more.”

The stamen also revealed that the plans will be made to resume the postponed Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) now that the administration issues.

“All plans and programmes of the various National Teams will proceed accordingly, and we also believe the League Management Company will now put arrangements in place for the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League.”

The NFF Will now focus on the Falconets who will represent the country at the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup as well as begin preparations for the Super Eagles African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers scheduled for September.
