LASU lecturer allegedly caught in another sex scandal

The lecturer reportedly invited the student to his office on a Saturday to rewrite the exam she failed when he was caught on camera harassing the lady.

Barely a month after Obafemi Awolowo University sacked a Professor for demanding sex from a student, an Associate Professor in Lagos State University, LASU is allegedly at the centre of another sex scandal.

Dr Sunkanmi Odubunmi, who lectures in the Economics Department in LASU is the latest lecturer involved in a web of sexual harassment allegation.

According to reports, the lecturer sexually harassed a yet-to-be-identified female student in his office when he invited her into his office on a Saturday to come and rewrite the paper she failed.

Independent reports that the student had on several occasions turned down love advances from Odubunmi before she sought the assistance of a non-governmental organization to help track the alleged sexual harassment.

However, in order to confirm the student's claim, the NGO reportedly involved the LASU security to trap the lecturer, who was supposed to be due for a full professorship a week before the incident.

How the lecturer was allegedly caught

Before going to the lecturer's office, the NGO had reportedly installed surveillance gadget on the student while the NGO people also stationed themselves in another office not far from Odubunmi's with the laptops connected to the spy camera’s on the lady to monitor what would happen between the lecturer and the student.

Having invited the student into his office to rewrite the paper, Odubunmi reportedly fell for the trap as he was reported to have bolted the office door, removed his shirt and started cuddling the student from behind after giving her papers to rewrite the exam he invited her for.

While trying to resist his sexual advance, Odubunmi reportedly found out that the student wore a spy eyeglass which he said to have seized and destroyed immediately.

The lecturer was thereafter arrested by the university security officials and NGO representatives.
