The university management increases the tuition to make it “in consonance with the present financial realities of the institution.
The Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has reportedly approved an increase in tuition, but the students are already kicking against the increment.
The decision according to Premium Times was made known in an internal memorandum signed by the university's council secretary, JA Agboola on Wednesday, July 2018.
As stated in the release, the new tuition will take effect from the 2018 / 2019 academic session and Medical, Nursing and Biomedical students will start paying N300,000 for school fees.
Engineering students will be paying N200,000 while students of the Faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Applied Sciences will pay N200,000.

According to the university management, the decision was made to meet the present financial realities of the institution is facing.
Considering students who may not be able to afford the tuition, the university management said it will “work out modalities for scholarship schemes to support the indigent students”.
Meanwhile, students have started reacting to the management's decision, as some of them are reportedly planning to stage protests to oppose the increment.
