Jackie Aina continues to break beauty barriers and this new tutorial featuring Muslim-owned/ halal products is a must-see.
It's quite evident that the beauty industry is heavily flawed when it comes to inclusivity and diversity. However, there are influencers working hard to subvert that status quo and at the top of that list is YouTuber Jackie Aina. In her latest video, the youtuber does a tutorial of Muslim-owned products and it is the definition of inclusivity.
After calling out colourism in the industry, she put her money where her mouth was and partnered with Too Faced to expand their 'Born This Way' foundation range. Now, she has posted a video of 'Full Face of Muslim Owned/Halal Beauty Products' tutorial in support of her Muslim followers.
Aina got the idea from fellow YouTuber Chloe Morello who did a tutorial in honour of Eid, a holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. Aina started the video by acknowledging her place as a non-Muslim person and how she’s just trying to be an ally to people who don’t see many tutorials advocating for Halal products, Muslim-owned brands or influencers.
While Aina went through the tutorial she rattled off Muslim influencers and designers that she not only follows, but gets tons of inspiration from including Nabela Noor, Coco Becky and Farah Dhukai.
Aina is being widely praised for the video and her followers, both muslim and non-muslim are hailing her the move.
