Demi Lovato is 'awake' and 'stable' after being hospitalized for a suspected overdose

The pop singer, 25, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital just before noon and is currently receiving treatment, though her condition is currently unknown, per TMZ.

Demi Lovato was hospitalized on Tuesday, following "what appears to be a heroin overdose," reports TMZ.

The pop singer, 25, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital just before noon and is currently receiving treatment, though her condition is currently unknown, per TMZ.

A representative from the Los Angeles Fire Department also confirmed to People that they "transported a 25-year-old female patient to a local hospital." A source close to Demi told People that she is "stable." Another source told the outlet that her overdose was not related to heroin.

Demi has struggled with substance abuse, as well as biopolar disorder, self-harm, and disordered eating for years. In 2011, she entered a treatment facility for her mental health and addiction, but relapsed soon after and entered into a sober living facility for a year, according to People.

In March, Demi shared that she had officially hit six years of being sober on Twitter-just months after the debut of her documentary Simply Complicated, which chronicled the singer's struggles with sobriety and eating disorders.

Just three months later in June, however, she released a new song, "Sober." The lyrics revealed that she had relapsed:

“Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor,” she sang on the heartbreaking piano ballad. “And I’m sorry for the fans I lost who watched me fall again / I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.”

This story will be updated as more news about Demi's condition becomes available.
