Film Summit 2018: Ghana finally launches Gollywood, in line with the likes of Nigeria's Nollywood, US' Hollywood

Ghana Film industry has officially launched Gollywood just like Nigeria's Nollywood for movie makers.

A Ghana at 60 years On film summit was successfully executed on July 12, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Center.

At the summit, film industry leads and practitioners launched the official name the the movie scene in Ghana as "Gollywood".

This name differs from "Ghallywood" which has been touted over the years as the unofficial nickname for the industry.

The launch was attended by top personalities and heads of the various associations in the Creative Arts industry including President of Ghana Actors Guild, Samuel Fiscian and the South African High Commission to Ghana, H.E Lulu Xingwana among others.

Joe Boy a One man band gave thrilling performances to entertain the gathering.

Also at the summit, awards were given to deserving players in the industry under the "Legendary Awards" schemes.

The late The Late Godwin Kotey and Mac Jordan Amartey was awarded a posthumous honor alongside other actors like Fiifi Coleman, Grace Omaboe, Bill Asamoah, Adjetey Anang, Kenn Fiati, Abeiku Nyame (Jagger Pee) Paa Geoge, Kalsoum Sinare, Agya Koo,and others.
