Blessing Eleke: Nigerian striker moves to Luzern in Switzerland

After a successful spell in Slovenia, Blessing Eleke completes a switch to Switzerland.

Nigerian striker Blessing Chibuike Eleke has completed a move to Swiss Super League outfit FC Luzern

Eleke moved from Israeli Premier League outfit FC Ashdod to FC Luzern.

The 22-year-old attacker signed a four-year deal which is expected to keep him at the Swiss side until the 2021/22 season.

Luzern confirmed the deal for Eleke through a statement on their official website.

The message said, “The FC Lucerne is pleased to welcome Blessing Chibuike Eleke in central Switzerland, and wishes him all the best and much success in Blauweiss.”

Remo Meyer who is the Sports Director for Luzern spoke about the qualities Eleke brings to the team.

The statement said, “With Blessing, we were able to sign up an offensive player with a lot of potential. Although still very young, he has prevailed at all stations in Europe from the start and convinced.”

 

The young Nigerian forward was previously played for  Slovenian football powerhouses ND Gorica and NK Olimpija before his move to  FC Ashdod.

In Slovenia, Eleke contributed 25 goals for both clubs in a total of 80 appearances, and is yet to make an appearance for the Super Eagles.

FC Luzern lost the opening game of their new season to Neuchâtel Xamax but could have Eleke feature in their next encounter against Thun on Sunday, July 29.
