There are so many amazing benefits you are missing out on by not memorizing the Word of God.
Believe it or not, memorizing the scriptures is really important and beneficial. Here is why:
You are always ready for battle
Ephesians 6: 12 tells us that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
If you really understand what this means then you know that every day is a battle, a battle between good and evil in our minds and in the world around us. In order to win these battles, you need your armor which includes the scriptures (Ephesians 6:10–18).
Psalm 119:11- "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
You need to have them in your heart in order to have the right one to respond with anger, lust, pride and other temptations come calling. You don't want to be defenseless when you are faced with the tactics of the devil.

For encouragement
Memorising the scriptures definitely comes in handy when you, your friends or even strangers need some encouragement. Faced with life's challenges, you can easily be refreshed by remembering an apt verse. I know for a fact that there are very few things that are as comforting and as calming as relying on God's words in your time of need.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." (2 Corinthians 1:3–4)
You make better choices in life
Faced with indecision, you can just depend on a verse and you immediately know what to do. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path." By memorizing the scriptures, you always have God in your heart guiding you on what to do (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
You become a better, reformed person
By literally carrying God's words in your heart, you gradually become renewed (Romans 12:2). Day by day, as you use and meditate on the scriptures, your thoughts are reformed and we all know that as a man thinketh, so is he…(Proverbs 23:7).
With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you that memorizing the scriptures is the way to go.
Remember, you don't have to memorize everything all at once, you just have to start. Start small with your favorite line, verse and gradually build up to memorizing chapters. Trust me, the benefits are endless.
