Tamale: Devastated Fancy Gadam cancels concert with Patoranking after fans die in accident

Hundreds of people, mostly fans of the northern-based artiste, had gone to the Tamale Airport to welcome him and Patoranking, for a show scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Musician Fancy Gadam has cancelled his mega show with his Nigerian counterpart Patoranking, after eight of his fans were reported dead in a fatal accident.

Hundreds of people, mostly fans of the northern-based artiste, had gone to the Tamale Airport to welcome him and Patoranking, for a show scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Eight people have been confirmed dead while others sustained multiple degrees of injury. They are receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the artiste announced the postponement of the show indefinitely.

He said: "My heart is heavy right now , words can’t describe how I feel. I am sorry to announce to you that my show with Patoranking scheduled to come of tomorrow has been postponed indifinately... I can’t lose my fans and still have the heart to stage a show."

The accident is said to have occurred when a vehicle conveying some of the overzealous fans, collided with an oncoming vehicle that had a tyre burst, causing the driver to veer off the road.

Another vehicle carrying public address system and branded in Zylofon Cash colours was also involved in the accident.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue.

Fancy Gadam won the most popular song of the year at this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with his hit song "Total Cheat."
