The former Bayern defender believes Michael Essien is the best Ghanaian player he has ever played with
Sammy Osei Kuffour has stated that Michael Essien is the best Ghanaian player he has ever played with.
The former Bayern Munich defender's revelation will come as a surprise, against the backdrop that he has chosen Essien ahead of the likes of Tony Yeboah and Abedi Pele Ayew, whom he also played with in the same Black Stars team.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder and Osei Kuffour, both represented Ghana in the 2006 FIFA World Cup staged in Germany.

“At the 2006 World Cup we (Ghana) believed that we could do something great and we had very good players like Appiah and Essien. And for me Essien is the best Ghana player I ever played with in the Black Stars. He understands the game and makes it easier for his teammates whenever he is on the field”, Kuffour told Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV.
Sammy Kuffour, further stated that he is satisfied with the role he played in the Black Stars during his illustrious career and also indicated that his disastrous back pass that gifted Italy the second goal in the 2006 World Cup didn't affect him the way people thought it would.
“I apologized to my teammates in the dressing room after the game but I don’t think I owe Ghanaians an apology for that because mistakes do happen and I didn’t kill anybody.”
