BET Awards 2018: ‘I came from nothing’ – Kwesi Arthur reacts after losing BET Award

Ghana’s Kwesi Arthur has spoken out after losing out on the Viewers' Choice: Best New International Act" award at the 2018 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

The rapper, who only rose to prominence in 2017, was the only Ghanaian artiste nominated for this year’s awards ceremony.

The “Grind day” hit maker was nominated in the “Viewers' Choice: Best New International Act" category alongside Mc Soffia (Brazil), Prince Waly (France),Take A Mic (France), Niniola (Nigeria),Sjava (South Africa), Sik-K (South Korea), Nailah Blackman (Trinidad And Tobago), Not3s (UK) and Iamddb (UK).

However, Kwesi Arthur could not scoop the award, eventually losing out to South Africa’s Sjava.

Reacting after losing out on the award, the rapper indicated he’s proud of his achievement, adding he came from “nothing”

In a Twitter post, he wrote: “How can I lose when I came from nothing.”

The 2018 BET Awards took place on Sunday at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles.

Other big winners on the night were Nigeria’s Davido, who won the Best International Act Award.

Beyonce and Bruno Mars also scooped the Best Female and Male R&B / Pop Artist Awards respectively.

The Best Group award also went to Migo, whiles Black Panther won the Best Movie award.
