In Abuja: Group advocates change in chairmanship zoning structure

FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello.

Group tells FCT minister to reconsider changing the APC chairmanship structure from Abuja South to North.

The Concerned Abujans for Good Governance and Justice has called on the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello, to consider shifting the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship position structure from Abuja South to North at the forth coming state congress.

Coordinator of the group, Lawal Salihu, explained that a better political structure in the FCT would ensure President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the 2019 election.

“With this arrangement the Abuja South comprising of Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali and Abaji will have a new hope of producing a senator come 2019,” Salihu said.

“Going by the fact that the Abuja North comprising of AMAC/Bwari have occupied the Senatorial sit for the past sixteen years in the political scene of FCT while the Abuja South only occupied the senatorial position for just four years.

“To make the party more formidable fighting force there is a need to consider zoning arrangement of key position of the party the like of Ambassador Ayuba Jacob Ngbako or Honourable. Tanko Musa Abari should be considered for the position of FCT APC chairmanship while the likes of Hon Zakari Angulu, Senator Sidi Ali, Senator Jubril Usman Wowo and Doctor Aliyu Daniel Bakar should be captured to contest for the position of senatorial sit into an agreed zoning arrangement for fair treatment to the people of that senatorial zone,” he added.

The group, however, maintained that they would support any qualified candidate chosen by the party.
