A Nigerian photographer identified as Mohammed Chiroma has taken to his Facebook account to share the heartbreaking photos of a young man who has become homeless after he fell a victim of substance abuse in Borno state.
According to the photographer, the homeless young man used to be very hardworking before he became a victim of substance abuse, as the new photos show the man scavenging for bottles of codeine syrup in abattoir, Maiduguri.
He posted the photos and wrote: “This young man is at the abattoir in maiduguri. He was a hard working fellow, before becoming a victim of drug abuse, namely, codeine syrup. From making a clean living to a life of scavenging as the result of a drug abuse #FightAgainstDrugAbuse.”
The photographer further urged the government to endevour to help young men and women who are addicts by providing rehabilitation. He also urged the government to arrest those selling to addicts.
