It is safe to say there’s no record label that compares to Mavins in terms of consistency, brand image and management.
Today, no record label has recorded so much success when compared to them even if we consider back then during the Mo Hits days as well.
We’ve heard Dorobucci non stop. Godwin from Korede Bello, Like from Reekado Banks, Ma Lo from Tiwa Savage. It has been hits on hits from these superstars.
However, as it is in most families there’s always one black sheep who when everyone is succeeding, doesn’t experience much success with anything he does. Same thing with the Mavins crew.
In as much as Tiwa Savage, Johnny Drille and Reekado Banks are succeeding, there are black sheep among the Mavins crew that Don Jazzy has to make serious deliberations about.
Let’s get down to business
1. D’Prince
I still say this. If not for the fact that D’Prince is the younger brother of Don Jazzy, he would have been evicted when Kay Switch and D’banj left.
Wack music releases. Songs that don’t appeal and the inconsistency on his own part has been his undoing. They even went Street by featuring Small Doctor to help light up his career but nothing positive came out of it.
2. Dija
She came into the industry with a lot of promise. Some saw her in the mould of Tiwa Savage dropping hits just like the songstress. She had the voice, appeal and also amazing personality.
However, Dija too has been disappointing in the last few years. From her Smash hit, Awww, she has gone down the charts and also she has switched from her usual “Alternative Genre” to pop genre, but it seems her career has nose-dived instead.
A lot of resuscitation efforts has been carried out by the label but sadly, it seems Dija is not destined to blow.
3. Korede Bello
Originally, Korede Bello wouldn’t have been in this list two years ago. But as mentioned above, inconsistency has been his undoing.
His album was the wackest ever debut album and he has lost confidence as his recent releases have lost that vibe and quality that is always associated with a Korede Bello song.
Bellovers really enjoyed Korede Bello’s Godwin & Romantic. What happened to the Korede Bello who gave us “Do It Like That?”
What has gone wrong with Korede Bello?
While the trio of DNA, Ladipoe and Johnny Drille were just signed last year and are still acclimatizing, these three artistes (Korede Bello, Dija and D’Prince) should be the worst artistes ever associated with Don Jazzy.
Now, the big question is
Between D’prince, Dija & Korede Bello – Who Is The Worst Ever Investment Of Don Jazzy?
We want to hear from you all.
