Amusan is Nigeria's first sprints hurdles Commonwealth Games champions.
Nigerian sprinter Oluwatobiloba Amusan showed off her Shaku Shaku dancing skill after her historic gold medal win in the 110m hurdles event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Amusan won the 110metres hurdles event with a time of 12.68s to beat Jamaica’s duo of Danielle Williams and Yanique Thompson who ran a time of 12.78s and 12.97s respectively.
By winning the event Amusan became Nigeria’s first sprints hurdles Commonwealth Games champion.
Amusan beat Austrailia’s Brianna Beahan in the preliminary round with a time of 12.73s which was improved upon in her final race.
Amusan who won gold at the 2015 All African Games showed her joy at winning the race by showing off her Shaku Shaku skills with the Nigerian flag.
The Shaku Shaku dance is a very popular dance in Nigeria, which involves the crossing of arms while also galloping with your legs.
Despite winning the gold medal, her time of 12.68s was .11s slower than her season’s best.
Her gold takes Nigeria’s medal haul at the games to 18 (eight gold, five silver, five bronze)
Amusan has another chance at a medal with the 4x100m relay team.
