Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has stated that the people of the state will not allow any form of political robbery in 2019.
Wike maintained that Rivers people would be very vigilant during next year’s general elections.
The governor spoke on Saturday during a grand reception organised in honour of the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in Asaba.
He said the plans of the APC and their accomplices, aimed at subverting the people’s wish, would not work in Rivers State because the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government had done no projects for the people.
The governor said his political disposition changed when he realised that the leaders of the APC lacked maturity and fairness.
He said, “We are prepared for credible elections and we shall remain vigilant.’’
Wike thanked the Anioma people for their overwhelming endorsement of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for re-election, adding that the governor had no opposition because of his outstanding performance.
“Okowa should be preparing for the next inauguration into office. I have not seen any other political party in Delta State. There is no other political party to contest against Ifeanyi Okowa,” he said.
In his remarks, Okowa said the rest of Delta State considered equity and competence, instead of population, in his emergence.
Okowa stated that his endorsement by the Anioma Nation and all other ethnic nationalities at the event signalled the continuation of the good works of his administration.
Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu, described Okowa’s emergence as governor as a product of equity for the Anioma Nation, noting that Nigeria would continue to have problems unless there was justice across the country.
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, said Okowa had performed creditably over the last three years.
Also, a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, noted that his people would support the re-election of Okowa because of his performance.
