Man in court for raping three pupils


A 40-year-old man, Abdullahi Umar, has been charged before a Katsina State Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping three primary school pupils.
Umar, a labourer residing at Dan’rimi Quarters, Malumfashi, Katsina, was on Friday remanded in the prison custody by a Katsina State Magistrates’ Court.
The police had dragged Umar before the court on one charge of rape contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The court was told that the headmaster of Sallau Primary School, Malumfashi, Umar Mohammed, reported the accused at Malumfashi police station on April 10.
The police said the headmaster reported that Umar had on different occasions allegedly deceived and induced three pupils of the school with money, to have sexual intercourse with them in his house.
The police further told the court that Umar confessed to committing the offence during interrogation, adding that he had committed a similar offence in April, 2015 and was on bail when he committed the offence for which he was arraigned.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation was still in progress and prayed for an adjournment.
The magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, adjourned the case and ordered that Umar should be remanded in the prison custody.
