Church introduces entrepreneurial studies for pastors

The Assemblies of God Church has announced plans to expose its trainee pastors in Bible colleges to entrepreneurial training.
The Director of Education in the church, Dr. Godswill Israel, made the announcement while unveiling his vision during his first working visit to one of the church’s pastoral schools — the National Advanced School of Theology, Ewu.
A statement issued by the Registrar of NAST, Rev. Rufus Agboola, quoted Israel to have said the church had concluded plans to introduce entrepreneurial studies in the curriculum for the training of pastors in its 10 seminaries scattered across the country.
According to Agboola, Israel said the introduction of the new programme was in keeping with modern trends of equipping pastors not only with theological knowledge but also with practical knowledge that would help them fit in into the emerging knowledge economy.
Justifying the entrepreneurial studies, the clergyman said Apostle Paul was not only a great preacher of the gospel but also a tent maker who preferred not to bother those he preached the gospel to with his financial upkeep.
Israel said he had also advocated that Nigeria should equip its university graduates with skills necessary in modern economies rather than graduate students from universities without skills to help them adapt to life outside the school environment.
