The 2018 Commonwealth Games is an international sports event scheduled to hold from Wednesday, April 4 till Sunday, April 15

1.    Duration and the host country of 2018 Commonwealth Games

The 2018 Commonwealth Games is an international sports event for commonwealth members, it is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, April 4 till Sunday, April 15

Gold Coast, Queensland Australia will host the 21st Commonwealth Games

2.     Participating countries of 2018 Commonwealth Games

71 teams will participate in the 21st Commonwealth games after The Maldives pulled out of the games in October 2016.

 

3.    Events and sports of 2018 Commonwealth Games

The 21st Commonwealth games will see athletes participate across 19 sports which include, Aquatics,  Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach volleyball, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn bowls, Netball, Rugby sevens, Shooting Squash, Table tennis, Triathlon, Weightlifting, Wrestling

The 19 sports have a total of 275 events combined in which winners will emerge from.

 

4.    Nigerian athletes at the 2018 Commonwealth Games of 2018 Commonwealth Games

90 athletes are expected to represent Team Nigeria across several events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Nigerian team will mostly participate in the Athletics events but also in Weightlifting, Wrestling, Boxing, Special Sports, Table Tennis, Gymnastics and while the Men’s basketball team D’Tigers who are grouped alongside hosts Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

5.   Outside cities to be used at 2018 Commonwealth Games

All the 2018 Commonwealth Games events will take place in Gold Coast city, events such as shooting, cycling and the group stages of basketball will take place outside the city.
