UNICAL management has announced the postponement of the convocation ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
The authorities of the University of Calabar have postponed the 31st convocation ceremony of the institution.
The ceremony was scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 10, 2018, but the university management on Tuesday, March 6, announced the postponement of the convocation ceremony.
According to Daily Post, the postponement is due to the alleged crisis in the institution’s hierarchy.
Meanwhile, a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, Barrister Joseph Odok was suspended for allegedly criticising the university management on social media.
Odok was reported to have made some allegations against the leadership of the University including the Vice Chancellor of the university.

Also, an Associate Professor in the university, Prof. Mensah Eyo and five other students are facing prosecution over certificate forgery.

However, the Cross River state Director of Director of Public Prosecution, Greg I. Okem said he was not aware of the allegation against the lecturer adding that the letter directing Professor Mensah Eyo to appear before him was forged.
''Everything about that letter was forged. If you look at this document, several things are wrong; you say these people are to stand trial, which court, no charges levelled against them either in the Magistrate court or in High court.
“Who to give evidence, where is the evidence to be led, the people to give evidence at where, this Dr Mensa and the rest of them who are standing trial, is it in the Ministry of Justice, this is not High Court,”
In the midst of this, the school management has announced announces the immediate postponement of its 31st convocation ceremony earlier scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2018.
