According to Vanguard, the 186 rooms hostel complex was constructed in 2013, by the management of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the medical students.

“Medical students who have their professional exams to write, next month, don't have a place to stay.”
The medical students were seen in clusters protesting their evacuation from the hostel.
