
Nigerians are now very sceptical ahead of the 2018 World Cup after Super Eagles 2-0 loss to Serbia.
The optimism of Nigerians over the Super Eagles were crushed following the 2-0 loss to Serbia in a friendly game on Tuesday, March 27 as a host of them expressed scepticism on Twitter ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
There had been this cheerfulness around the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 World Cup following a successful qualifying campaign.
Nigerians were looking forward to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, ready to support their darling Super Eagles.
Mood dampened
But the mood has been dampened following the loss as a host of Nigerians took to Twitter to express disappointment over the loss.
Aleksandar Mitrovic netted a second-half double to give Serbia the 2-0 win at the Hive Stadium in London.
“Serbia 2 - 0 Nigeria Just when we were boasting that things have CHANGED Serbia came like Bill Gates to tell us the bitter truth,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Poland scored against Nigeria, it was cancelled ! Serbia scored against Nigeria, it was also cancelled ! This luck may not continue in Russia oh #NGASRB,” another user wrote.
“With the performance of our Super duper Eagles so far, my heart is telling me they are going to Russia just to play 3 friendly matches,” another user wrote.
“Let’s not deceive ourselves we are not ready at all for the World Cup . And who is his uzoho? Guy can’t keep for sh**,” another disappointed Nigerian wrote on Twitter.
The game was heavily followed on Twitter as two items ‘@NGASRB and Serbia’ from the friendly made it top the top trends.
Some of the other reactions also include criticisms of the players, coach Gernot Rohr and the team.
