MFM FC beat MC Alger 2-1 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifier.
2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) runners up MFM FC were knocked out of the CAF Champions League after they lost 6-0 to MC Alger in their second leg clash.
MFM head coach Fidelis Olechukwu made some changes to the team that defeated their MC Algers 2-1 in the first leg clash at the the Agege Soccer Temple.
The continental rookies needed to avoid defeat to progress to the group stage of the CAF Champions League but fell behind after Sofiane Bendebka scored with a header in the third minute of the game.
MFM conceded a second in the 10th minute of the game through Walid Derragjada.
The hosts scored their third of the game in the 20th minute through Hichem Nekkache.
Amir Karaoui made it four for MC Algers in the 29th minute.
MFM went into the break four goals behind and needed three goals to progress.
The hosts continued from where they stopped in the first half and scored their fifth of the game as Hichem Nekkache got his brace in the 55th minute.
The game ended 6-0 in favour of MC Algers as they progressed to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
MFM FC previously beat AS Bamako to progress to the next round.
The result means that for MFM have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League, and will proceed to the CAF Confederations Cup group stage qualifiers, where Enyimba and Akwa United are also involved.
