Why it took Buhari 'so long' to visit troubled states

The Presidency said Buhari was waiting for a comprehensive security report before he would visit the troubled states.

The Presidency has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari is just visiting troubled states, where the herdsmen-farmers conflict has left over 100 people dead.

It was announced on Monday, March 5, 2018, that the President would visit Taraba, Benue, Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers States to interface with the government, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the states, with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

The President is currently in Taraba, from where he is expected to move to other states.

Nigerians have, however, described the move as an afterthought, lamenting why it took the President so long to visit the affected states.

Responding to critics, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity said Nigerians are too impatient.
