Coalition of Urhobo groups under the aegis of Save Urhobo Nation Movement, yesterday, warned Ijaw militant group, the Supreme Egbesu Council, which issued a threat to blow up oil facilities in the riverine communities if the decision to settle the ongoing crises between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh was decided in Aladja’s favour.
The group noted that since they had threatened the government of resuming hostility if the matter was decided in Aladja’s favour, they will not still hesitate to ask all Ijaws residing in Urhoboland to quit or face dire consequences if any part of Aladja land was shared in favour of the people of Ogbe-Ijoh.
The group noted that Aladja people are Urhobos who have been neglected for too long by the Urhobo nation since the crisis between them and the Ijaws of Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba broke out, alleging that the Ijaw nation had been behind their Ijaw kith and kin in the communities of Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba .
In a statement by General Thomas, the groups said, “It is now time to stand up for our Aladja brothers. The Aladja people who own the land have always abided by the peace overtures of the government but the Ijaws have always flouted the orders of the government and boast of being very violent while the government look on helplessly.”
