Chasing a degree to fulfil a dream can be a stressful experience sometimes.
It takes a great deal of determination and focus to overcome academic hurdles set for us to make it in life.
When you think about the multiple assignments, test, project and other academic tasks to contend with every day, you'll probably not want like to go through the stress again after graduation.
However, academic pursuit may be a strenuous journey, there are some exciting things that happen during your four or seven years course in the higher institution.
We are here to remind you some of the exciting moments if you don't seem to remember them.
1. When you pass the exam you that you thought you would fail
Exam time is probably the most dreaded period in the life of students. Nobody wants to have a carryover. But some courses can be so difficult that you only wish for a miracle to happen. And when it does happen, you can't just help but jubilate like you score the winning goal for your country at the World Cup final.
2. When you see a flier for a campus event that’s giving away free food.
Now, you and your campus squad are broke and you just feel like eating anything that comes your way. Fortunately, while strolling through the campus looking for food, you see a flier about an event where students are being given free food...and you sprint with excitement.
3. When your class ends unusually early
We know some lecturers, who can lecture for Africa. When a lecturer who usually teaches for four to six hours spends 30 minutes in your class, your excitement knows no limit.
4. When the class gets an extension on an assignment you've not done.
It is a deadline day and you have done the assignment of a certain lecturer who will not hesitate to give you zero in your continuous assessment because of the assignment.
You were thinking about how you can you write and type a thousand words essay in less than 10 minutes when the news came that the lecturer has extended the submission of the assignment. Only students know how this feels.
5. When you manage to find answers for a difficult assignment online
Your lecturer has asked you to do assignment no student has been able to do because there is seemingly no information about the topic either online or offline. As a curious and diligent student, you dig and dig as if you want to discover the bottom of the earth, and interestingly, you find the answers to the assignment. Why won't you celebrate your discovery?
6. When for the first time your group members are actually competent
Each time you find yourself in a group assignment you've always belonged to the worst group, but this particular group made you happy as the writing and presentation phase of the assignment was perfectly done.
7. You get to class late, but your lecturer isn't there yet
Prof. Kasali usually enters the class at 8 am and he is going to conduct a test. It's almost 8 am but the Lagos traffic won't help your situation. You jumped down from the bus and ran as fast as your leg could carry you to class, only to found out that Prof. Kasali wasn't there yet...Let out a sigh of relief that is mixed with excitement.
8. When your professor says that attendance is optional
You have an appointment and your core course lecturer fixes your appointment time for his make up lecturer. Are you going to miss this golden chance for the last time? No, the lecturer just announced that attendance for the lecture is not compulsory. You can go in peace.
9. When you don't have class on Fridays
You always have three lectures on Fridays, which you only manage to attend. You woke on this particular Friday reluctantly gathering yourself for class when the class rep sends a message that all lectures have been cancelled. You can't but scream TGIF!
10. When you finally graduate.
This is the king of all students excitement. The kind that makes everyone loses their home training after writing the final paper.
