The Senate wing of the National Assembly is currently on fire on Thursday, February, 15, 2018. In view of that the Senate has suspended its Thursday’s sitting after fire broke out in a section of the National Assembly building.
Citing order 43, Senator Ibrahim Gobir said that due to the smoke emanating from electrical appliances in the Chamber, plenary should be suspended to allow technicians to rectify the issue.
The Senate President,Bukola Saraki however agreed with Sen Gobir and said “Definitely the chamber is not conducive for today’s s activities and as such, I would direct that we adjourn till Tuesday so that between now and the weekend the members of the services and maintenance unit can ensure that we bring the chamber into a conducive environment.”
