Salah and Mane have been nominated for the African Player of the Year award.
Liverpool have chartered a private plane for their stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to attend the 2017 CAF Awards in Ghana on Thursday, January 4.
Salah and Mane will attend the CAF Awards where they have been nominated for the African Player of the Year award.
For the event in the Ghanaian capital Accra, Liverpool have arranged a private plane for both of them so they can travel out of England on Thursday morning and return immediately after the event.
Special arrangement
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects that with this arrangement, the two stars will be available for the Merseyside derby on Friday, January 5.
“We have everything organised; we have two of the three best African players in our squad. We have to show them respect,” Klopp said.
“If it had been a matchday, they wouldn’t have asked (to go). We sleep in a hotel the night before a game, they will sleep in a plane. That is all the difference.”
Salah sat out Liverpool’s 2-1 win away at Burnley on Monday, January 1 because of a groin injury and Klopp insists the forward will only miss the game against Everton because of the injury not the trip to Ghana.
“If Mo is not fit, it will not be for that,’ he said. ‘For our side, it is just a sign of respect. I know it, I had (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund and there is nothing more important than to go there”’
Salah and Mane crucial
The two African stars are very crucial to Liverpool who looking to make an impact in this season’s Champions League and the FA Cup.
Salah has been brilliant since he joined the Reds in the summer and is currently their leading goalscorer with 23 goals.
Although Mane is yet to replicate his form of last season, the Senegalese opened the scoring for Liverpool in their 2-1 win over Burnley.
Salah and Mane alongside Aubameyang are in the race to win the 2017 African Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards on Thursday.
