Nantes Vs Paris Saint-Germain: Referee issues red card after kicking player

Nantes President Waldemar Kita labels the incident a ‘scandal’.

A French league match between French League leaders Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes witnessed a bizarre scenario as the referee kicked a player and sent him off afterwards.

Brazilian defender Diego Carlos was running back towards his goal when he incidentally tripped the referee, Tony Chapron.

The referee took a tumble and then stretched his leg in retaliation and then issued a second yellow card to the already booked Carlos.

The aftermath of the event has seen different reactions from players and football fans across the world.

Nantes President Waldemar Kita labelling the incident a ‘scandal’ and a show of ‘amateurism’.

Nantes forward Valentin Rongier suggested that Chapron should face disciplinary consequences.

The game ended in Paris Saint-Germain's favour who remain 11 points clear at the top in Ligue 1, Nantes however are fifth.
