Nigeria's Ezinne Uko has won the $100,000 first prize at Econet Media's GoGettazt entrepreneur pitch contest.
Uko who pitched against other contestants from Ghana, Nigeria and Rwanda captured the judging panel with her imonitor app.
Her app provides a dynamic solution that uses a mobile device to provide an easy inventory for sales, business performance analysis as well as customer and business management solutions.
Kenya's Peter Wachira won in the men's category with his idea of a ceramic water filter that helps in the fight against water borne disease in Kenya.
Beside the $100,000 each winner will get a further two-week mentorship opportunity as inaugural Kwesé Entrepreneur Fellows with Econet Global founder, Strive Masiyiwa at Kwesé offices in South Africa and additionally interact with other leading African entrepreneurs and innovators, and take part in other Kwesé Inc initiatives planned for later this year
The 12 semi-finalist entrepreneurs included both for-profit and not-for-profit businesses in six African countries: Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Kwesé Inc kicked off the inaugural #GoGettaz competition for entrepreneurs on 18 August 2017, a challenge to inspire entrepreneurship.
