After careful assessment by Everton's medical team, Onyekuru's injury lay-off is not as lengthy as feared

Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru has been cleared for rehabilitation by the Everton medical team.

The pacey forward who got injured while on loan at Anderlecht from parent club Everton was said to require surgery which would have ruled him out of this summer football fiesta in Russia.

 

Contrary to  earlier reports, after a series of examinations, the Goodison park medical staff concluded the front man, would undergo rehabilitation for a month and no surgery is required.

According to AOIFootball.com Onyekuru said “Yes, the doctor said I am not going to need any surgery yet. My legs are improving every day. So, we should wait for a month rehab to check it again,”

 

The former KAS Eupen hit man also said he feels fine and after the month-long rehabilitation, he would be back and better.

This news should excite Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr as well as football loving Nigerians, who have high hopes for the young forward at the FIFA world cup later this year in Russia.
