CW already has “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “Arrow," which most hardcore TV addicts are familiar with.
Pulse Movies has put together five things you should know about the network's latest addition, "Black Lightning."
1. About Black Lightning
Black Lightning is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It follows the titular superhero – real name Jefferson Pierce – who comes out of retirement after nine years when a local gang threatens his community with crime and corruption.
2. Black Lightning's superhero abilities
The superhero has the power to generate, control, and manipulate electricity. He also has the ability to fly, and move at the speed of light.
3. Cast of Black Lightning
Pierce is the first black character to headline a DC Comics. Its all-black cast includes Cress Williams as the titular character alongside China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin Jones III and Damon Gupton.
4. Black Lightning's place in DC Comics
"Black Lightning" is the fifth DC superhero drama to air on the CW. It is also the eighth DC Comics-inspired TV show, after "Gotham," "Vertigo," "Lucifer," "Arrow," "The Flash," "DC’s Legends of Tomorrow," "iZombie", and "Supergirl."
5. Release date of Black Lightning and success so far
"Black Lightning" made its debut on January 16, 2018.
The series premiere earned 2.31 million viewers to become the best rating for a series premiere on The CW since "Legends of Tomorrow " in January 2016.
