Relationship Talk: We've had sex but he doesn't care about me

Angry and confused.

He hardly calls me, only Whatsapp. He could also stay up to one week without hearing my voice.

Dear Bukky

I have been dating my guy for a year now and he has never given me money for anything, neither does he know how I’m coping or surviving.

He hardly calls me. He only communicates with me on Whatsapp. He also can stay up to one week without hearing my voice and we have been intimate.

Please Bukky, advise me on what to do.

Dear reader;

First, you might not like to hear this but he does not owe you any money.

Choosing to be in a relationship is not an agreement to being paid money as a duty.

Let a man give you money when he feels like doing so, not because he owes it to you. He does not. Please snap out of this mentality.

Having said that; I think your boyfriend does not care enough about you. Either that, or he really sucks at showing that he does.

Either way, I think you also have some work to do. Have you communicated this to him? Yes, he should know. But then, let’s assume he somehow doesn’t.

I advise that you spell these things to him in plain words. Tell him you’d rather have him call you more instead of the inconsistent communication that trickles into your Whatsapp from him.

I hope you’re calling too, though?

Also, it could also be the problem that texting you is often boring for him. Have you considered this?

And one last thing; having been intimate [I assume this means sex] does not demean you or reduce your worth.

A relationship that no longer holds any sensible value for you needs to be scrapped. Move on with your life if you have to.

In any case, all these are things that communication will help you figure out.

Please don’t make any rash decision till you’ve at least communicated your needs, desires and wishes with him.
