4. Asurf Oluseyi
Asurf Oluseyi started 2017 with "Hell or High Water." a short film aimed at starting a necessary conversation on homosexuality in Nigeria.
And with his first feature film "Hakkunde," Oluseyi creates an enjoyable movie with substance, one that perfectly balances comedy and drama.

With well-developed characters and excellent action sequences, Eric Aighmein creates an action masterpiece in "Slow Country."
On the basis of stunts and special effects, Aighemein has, with films such as "A Mile from Home," proven to know his way around an action film set.
And with his continuous mastery of the genre, he has positioned himself as one of the best filmmakers in the country.
2. Akin Omotoso
A Nigerian filmmaker tipped to win the country her first Oscar, Akin Omotoso creates a different kind of film with "A Hotel Called Memory."
Adept at using special moments of life to create a visual experience, Omotoso delivers a silent film that allows its audience to understand it however they deem fit and still be right.
His pictures are confident and distinctive as he leaves viewers reflecting and having conversations.
1. Dare Olaitan
Dare Olaitan made his directing debut with the genuinely funny, entertaining and exceptionally clever crime comedy “Ojukokoro.”
Olaitan makes a statement with his debut by delivering an ensemble-driven story revolving around a money-strapped manager of a shady petrol station, who decides to rob his employers but along the line finds out in a sudden twist that he is not alone in his ambition, and that a good reason isn’t always a right one.
With clever banter, easy-going dialogue, and a feel of Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino’s style, Olaitan delivers a movie that we will remember from 2017 for years to come.
