Famoroti said that the appeal had become necessary because some individuals were encroaching on the school at will.
The old students of Ekiti State Government College, (formerly Unity Secondary School), Ado-Ekiti, have appealed to the state government to protect their alma mater from encroachment by the public.
The old students made the appeal in a statement signed by the President of the Alumni Association, Mr Timi Famoroti.
Famoroti said that the appeal had become necessary because some individuals were encroaching on the school at will.
“The National Alumni President is calling on the Ekiti State Government to help stop the encroachment of the school land by some powerful individuals in Ado- Ekiti,” the statement said.
He expressed the readiness of the association to collaborate with the government in taking the school to greater heights.
He said that the association had contributed to infrastructure developments to the school over the years.
“In the last five years, the alumni had invested over N20 million in the school."
“We carried out different projects which include renovation of two hostels each at the male and female hostels, sunk a modern borehole, repaired class rooms and the lecture theatre."
“We also renovated the school healthcare centre and the principal’s lodge,” he said.
He commended his members for their cooperation and financial support to the school over the years.
Famoroti advised them and others to be fully involved in the development of the college as well as in the zonal arrangement for social interaction among members.
The statement said that old students Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo and Abuja zones converged on Ado-Ekiti for the 2017 reunion which was also used to officially create new zones.
Famoroti assured the alumni that more zones would be created in 2018 in various towns across the country.
He said this would be in addition to campus alumni that would be formed in the various institutions of higher learning for the purpose of mentoring younger members.
Famoroti also announced the Association’s forthcoming Diaspora reunion tagged “Maimi 2018″, scheduled to hold in July in the United States of America.
